FAQ

We keep the exact locations secret until shortly before each stay because let’s face it, there are very few surprises left in life anymore and we aim to surprise and delight! Your guest arrival instructions will include information such as how to get there, what to bring and things to see and do so that you can forget the stress, focus on getting away and retreat into nature.

All of our CABNs are within a one to two-hour drive from the nearest major city, with Cape St Albans on Kangaroo Island taking just a bit longer to drive to because of the ferry crossing. Far enough to really get away, but close enough for a spontaneous escape.

If you require the guest arrival instructions sooner to help your planning,  simply contact the team at [email protected]

Self-check-in is from 3pm and check out is by 10am so there is plenty of time to sleep in.

Just like us, our CABNs need time to recharge and be replenished, therefore please plan around these times so that our service team can ensure our cabins are kept in tip-top shape!

Your guest arrival instructions are emailed 10 days prior to your stay, and contain important information including the address, directions to find the hidden location, what to bring to enhance your stay and our recommendations to explore the region.

Self check in is from 3pm. When you reach the CABN simply enter your personalised key code into the door or lock box and take a deep breath: you’ve arrived.

Check out anytime before 10am – simply lock the door and return the key to the lock box.

To avoid excess cleaning and rubbish removal fees please leave the site and the CABN in the original condition in which you found it.

  • Please wash/dry and put away all dishes
  • Take all rubbish/bottles with you (or pre-purchase rubbish removal at the time of booking)
  • Wipe down the Weber BBQ if used during your stay
  • Return the key to the lock box

Finally, you are required to take some of the zen you found at CABN home with you!

$250 refundable bond is required to cover incidentals including property damage and/or loss, undisclosed extra guests, excess cleaning and rubbish removal.

A pre-authorisation of $250 will be held on your credit card at check in and released within 7 days of check out.

Our CABNs may be off-grid but they are actually eco-friendly tiny houses. Each CABN is unique in its design and layout and carefully curated to include everything you need and nothing you don’t.

Bed linen is supplied and a bed is made for 2 guests. If your CABN has an extra bed and you have extra guests, please add this at the time of booking. Housekeeping will then make up the extra bed in the CABN, and leave extra bathroom linen.

Bathroom linen is provided and amenities include hand wash, body wash, shampoo and conditioner.

Kitchenettes offer a variety of teas, ground coffee (for the coffee plunger), sugar, milk, oil, salt/pepper and tea towels.

If your CABN has an indoor fireplace, firelighters, matches/lighter, firewood/briquettes are provided (fire danger season dependant).

Every site has a BBQ and BBQ utensils.

Fire pits are at all locations except Kangaroo Island. Fire pits are unavailable during fire danger season, which is generally from 1st Dec-30th April inclusive.

Firewood to use the fire pit can be pre-purchased for all locations except Clare and Kangaroo Island.

CABN rates apply to 2 guests. Bed linen is supplied and one bed is made for 2 guests.

Extra guests are $50 per person adult/per night and children 12 and under are $30 per person/per night and can be added at the time of booking your CABN. Housekeeping will then know to make up the extra bed and leave extra bathroom linen.

Infants who do not need extra beds made or bathroom linen provided will be exempt from the extra guest charge. We welcome you to bring your own porta-cot.

You are welcome to have friends visit you during your stay, however they are not permitted to stay overnight unless they are a paying guest, and they must depart the site by 10pm. There is strictly no camping in tents, swags, campervans or caravans allowed at a CABN site.

We love dogs here at CABN. We understand that dogs don’t just provide companionship but physical and mental health benefits too. However, not all our CABNs are dog friendly, simply because of the unique bushland settings and abundance of wildlife and farm animals that may be nearby.

Dogs are welcome at CABNs Jude, Matilda, Melissa, CABN Hahndorf, Jarrah, Nala  &  Bambra. They are allowed inside but please bring their own bedding and ensure they do not get on our luxurious beds.

There is a $40 fee per stay to bring your dog on your CABN adventure, to cover an extra cleaning charge to ensure our CABN’s are thoroughly sanitised after every dog stay.

The CABNs are not fenced, so dogs must remain on a long line lead at all times to respect the local surroundings. Please pick up up after your dog and dispose of in the bin provided.

A really good attitude for a start! Actually, scratch that. Turn up feeling exhausted and then leave with all the calm of a 100-year-old Yoda.

We intentionally do not provide Wifi and encourage you to relax, rediscover and reconnect with loved ones and nature.

Living off grid involves being self sufficient and not connected to mains public services.

We rely on rain water tanks, gas bottles and the sun to operate our off grid CABN’s, however we always ensure that batteries are fully charged and rainwater tanks are full.

Appliances that are not included at the CABN can not be used as they will damage the battery and leave you without power.

Designated car parks are within 50-200 metres of a CABN and details of the distance are listed in each profile.

Once you park the car, the off-grid adventure starts on foot.

CABNs with a longer walk have a cart supplied to assist with getting your belongings from the car to the CABN.

Our car spaces are designed for 2 cars max.

At no point should you attempt to drive your car past the designated carpark, even if a trail or track is visible.

We offer 3 unique styles of off-grid nature escapes.

CABN is a minimal off-grid experience packed with the essentials. CABNs are run on rainwater, gas bottles and the sun to power its solar battery system. Amenities included vary between CABN so please check the individual profiles. All CABNs have heating and fans, and most have air conditioning. Any appliances that are not included in the CABN can not be used, as they will damage the battery & leave you without power.

CABN X is an elevated version of off-grid with all the luxury amenities. Large rainwater tanks, gas bottles and fancy generators out of sight powers the advanced battery system. Modern amenities such as electric kettle, coffee machine, toaster, microwave, hair dryer, iron and reverse cycle air conditioner can be run without causing a power outage. There is a full sized luxury bathroom at CABN X, indoor and outdoor baths, plus a private sauna.

CANVS is an eco-friendly pavilion style accommodation, built with canvas walls rather than timber and has large glass sliding doors to allow the natural light in. CANVS offer one of the best locations in the Barossa, conveniently located within reach of multiple wineries and restaurants. Independent kitchenette, ensuite bathroom, outdoor bath and modern amenities such as a microwave, kettle, toaster and reverse cycle air conditioner are backed up by solar power.

Fire Danger Season generally runs from November through to April, although the dates can vary due to seasonal conditions in different regional locations. The exact dates are published on the CFS website. www.cfs.sa.gov.au.

The use of indoor wood fireplaces and outdoor fire pits is strictly prohibited at CABN during Fire Danger Season. CABN X Saunas have no restrictions of use.

On Total Fire Ban days, please use the Weber Q carefully, ensuring it is well clear of all flammable vegetation.

We recommend you subscribe to alerts regarding bushfire warnings. Below are some of the ways you can stay updated and/or receive alerts:

We understand that life’s unpredictable and things can change.

Changes can be made at least 30 days prior to scheduled arrival. Guests can either rebook or receive a credit voucher for the full amount.

Cancellations within 30 days of scheduled arrival makes rebooking our CABNs difficult and unfortunately no rebooking, or credit voucher will be provided either in part or otherwise.

We do not provide refunds for non-arrivals or unused nights.

All cancellations or changes to your booking to can be made by contacting the team at [email protected]

We also recommend that you purchase travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances including: flight cancellations, ferry cancelations, medical expenses and loss or damage of personal belongings during your stay.

We lease land from private landowners in Australia. Occasionally leases end, regulations change or property suitability changes and we may need to move a CABN to a new location. Therefore, when booking, we cannot guarantee a specific location. If there is a change of location, you will receive an email letting you know in advance.

Overnight stays are available Sunday to Thursday and a 2 night minimum stay on weekends, Friday to Sunday.

Single night stays on weekends are rare and can only be booked if there is space between 2 other reservations.

If you can’t see a single night stay, and it’s within 30 days, please email [email protected] with the name of the CABN and the date you’d like to book and we’ll do our best to help.

Cancellations don’t happen often, but feel free to contact us at [email protected] with the dates you are hoping to stay.

We regularly post last minute availability from cancellations on our social media, so be sure to follow us on our socials.

Please also subscribe to our CABN newsletter. We don’t spam, we just let our VIPs know first about new CABN locations, pre-booking opportunities and other great information to enhance your stay with CABN.
