“Minimalism is an appreciation of space.” – Unknown
Introducing Jude: our very first tiny CABN in South Australia – fondly named after our founder’s mum.
Standing proud on 150 acres of breathtaking vineyard at Kuitpo Forest in the Adelaide Hills. CABN Jude is a completely off-grid getaway like no other. Eco-friendly, leaving only a minimal footprint, CABN was a fresh take on the tiny house movement that allows city dwellers to getaway from the mayhem to relax, rediscover and reconnect with one another, and nature.
It was the first of its kind in South Australia back in 2017 and most definitely the most beautifully designed with large windows on every side to bring the outside in.
At only two-and-a-half by six metres, and three-point-seven metres tall, it may at first appear small. But don’t be fooled; there is more than ample room for you to comfortably stay the weekend or week with up to four guests (so long as you don’t mind sharing either the king bed loft accessed by a ladder or king single day bed next to the large windows).
Built from Australian marine grade plywood and a BHP steel frame, you’d be quick to find similarities between elements of Scandinavian design. In fact, our owner was inspired by a mix of Scandinavian and Japanese interiors. What you won’t realise is that just about everything was either built or sourced in Australia to Australian Standards – an important factor our architect and builders felt strongly about achieving.
If you’re wondering where the power is sourced for our off the beaten path location: we teamed up with NRG to install Victron SmartSolar power panels atop the CABN itself.
Within your CABN, you’ll find a two-burner stove, mini fridge and freezer, a gas heater, bed linen and towels, and a selection of biodegradable products you might need on your stay (shower products, toilet paper and washing detergent, for example). For tips on what to bring, check out our FAQs page here.
There is also a wine barrel shower and a state-of-the-art compostable toilet system that requires sawdust for flushing (we supply that, too). You’ll get instructions on how to use all of these upon booking. We do ask that you be mindful of your water usage while staying – our rainwater catchment tanks and gas are not designed to be wasted. We’re talking minimum environmental impact here.
Dogs are also welcome to stay with you at CABN Jude. They are allowed inside but bring their bedding and plenty of favourite covers, and they must remain on a (long-long) lead at all times to respect the local farm animals and natural surroundings.
You will find her under an hours drive South of Adelaide only a short walk away from a world-class cellar door – book your adventure with Jude here.
Please note: CABN Jude is no longer located on the natural site in the video below, but you will get the gist just how beautiful she is!
